The annual hummingbird fest takes flight at Mizell Farms and Nursery in Folsom. Linda Beall will be this year's featured hummingbird expert. Grounds will be open from 5 am to 5 pm, with Beall capturing and banding birds beginning at 7 am. Visitors will have the opportunity to see Beall handle the birds up close, and visit the Butterfly House filled with live butterflies. Walking trails lined with nectar-producing plants give the public another opportunity to see the birds and butterflies in their wild habitat. Food and drink available; admission is $6 and parking is free. Mizell Farms is located directly on Hwy 25 just north of the Folsom stoplights.


The Village of Folsom Economic Development Fund will hold its annual Open Car and Bike Show from 8 am to 3 pm on Saturday Sept. 6th on Railroad Ave. in Folsom. Admission is free and the event will feature music and food vendors. 985-796-9833.
